This is an album I downloaded the other day from the website of Tim Wright, who is known for his work on Lemmings, WipeOut, MUSIC, and Shadow of the Beast. Going from MODs to MP3 was considered a controversial decision within the community, but CoLD SToRAGE does it very well in this album.
The album is split into two parts: BLUE and RED, keeping the opposing themes of hot and cold. There does seem to be an honest effort to live by these themes and to separate the smaller albums in their aesthetics: the BLUE album consists of mellow, atmosphereic, and ambient pieces filled with drowning pads and sleepy reverb where as the RED album is driven by beat and fueled with heavy electronic influences. Although, the titular track off the RED album seems to be more of a BLUE track, it's still a weak critic. Not to say this album is cliche, the artist experiments with genre with the successful incorporation of reggae, asian rhythms, and poetic vocals.
This album is great to code by. Not harsh for playing in the background. Keeps ya mellow. Overall, I recommend it, although the price is a bit steep.
